Employment: Web By Numbers
August 2008 to Present
Job Title: Web Developer
My employment was an initial project for a site re-development with further work within website development using various skills and programming languages.
My first project was the re-development of The Lakeland Cottage Company’s website (http://www.lakeland-cottage-company.co.uk). This involved redesigning the MySQL database currently used by the site, creating a bespoke CMS, enabling the client full control of the properties and other data. This reduced inconsistencies in the hand built approach previously used. I also created the ability to update property availability, and create a new site wide design.
I used a variety of languages and programs to develop the site. These included an in-house object orientated PHP CMS, CSS, XHTML, Dreamweaver templates, lightbox slideshow styled to client’s requirements, JavaScript slideshow and form validation and Ajax for a clickable calendar that outputs a price corresponding to the users input.
Since December 2008 I have taken a large role in the development of a Web By Numbers biggest client, The Roof Box Company. The client owns various brand, wholesale and stockist sites which all promote different areas of the business. The most notable are the main Roof Box site (http://www.roofbox.co.uk) and Spire laptop bags site (http://www.spire-bags.com). I have been in charge of various areas ranging from visual development work given by their designer through to dynamically driven forms via Ajax which populate car make and models based upon car specific products.
Other jobs include dynamic XML Google site maps, 301 redirecting via htaccess and setting up Google Analytics and conversion tracking code. I also have experience in using various OS and licensed CMS including CubeCart, Majento, Typo3, Website Baker and JShop.
